Northwest Africa 13501 (NWA 13501)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2016 Apr

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H3.10)

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Chondrite with well-defined, packed chondrules. Chondrule average apparent diameter 400±270 μm (n=44). Olivine are zoned compositionally. Opaques are metal and troilite.

Geochemistry: Olivine Fa11.2±10.1, Fa PMD = 76% (n=12), Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.38±0.21 wt% (n=10). Low-Ca pyroxene Fs8.3Wo1.1 (n=2).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite. H group based on magnetic susceptibility interpreted in the light of weathering grade and chondrule size. Subtype based on Cr2O3 content of ferroan olivine.

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Kuntz.
