Northwest Africa 15265 (NWA 15265)

Purchased: 2021 Oct

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4)

History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in October 2021 from an Algerian dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed equilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass occur within a relatively coarse grained matrix containing altered kamacite, taenite, troilite, chromite, chlorapatite and merrillite, but no plagioclase.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.8±0.7, range Fa18.4-20.28, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.4±0.3Wo1.4±0.1, range Fs16.1-16.7Wo1.2-1.6, N = 6)

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H4).

Specimens: 25.1 g including one polished thick section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb.
