Meteorite Type: H5 Chondrite

 

Physical Description:

Specimen is angular and highly weathered. Several fissures are obvious on the brownish-black surface. Approximately 30% of the surface is slightly rounded and represents the remnants of a fusion crust. From field photographs it is apparent that the S-E surface was in contact with the ice. This is not a complete specimen. A thin section sample was removed from the T surface. The specimen appears to be weathered throughout. The longest dimension is nearly 3.5 cm.

 

Petrographic Description: Brian Mason

This meteorite is similar in texture, mineral composition, and degree of weathering to ALHA77086, which suggests that these two stones may be separate pieces of the same meteorite.
