Sample No.: ALHA79021 Location: Allan Hills Field No.: 1192 Weight (gms): 29.4 Meteorite Type: H5 Chondrite
Physical Description: Roberta Score Stone is mostly covered with dull black fusion crust. The interior is light gray in color with reddish-brown oxidation scattered throughout. Inclusions are apparent. Dimensions: 4.5 x 2 x 1.5 cm.
Petrographic Description: Brian Mason Chondritic structure is moderately well-developed, chondrules ranging up to 1.5 mm in diameter. The groundmass consists largely of granular olivine and pyroxene, with minor amounts of nickel-iron and troilite. Limonitic staining is present around the nickel-iron grains. One edge of the section is rimmed with fusion crust. Microprobe analyses gave the following compositions: olivine, Fa18; pyroxene, Fs17. The meteorite is classified as an H5 chondrite. | ||||||||||||||||||||
