Northwest Africa 5262 (NWA 5262) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2005 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5, melt breccia) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Brownish fragment with some fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite is a melt breccia composed of up to 1 cm sized H5 chondritic clasts (plagioclase grain size about 30 µm) with sparse relict chondrules in abundant recrystallized shock melt rock with entrained partly resorbed mineral fragments and characteristic FeNi metal and sulfide spherules. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
