Northwest Africa 13672 (NWA 13672) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (H5, melt breccia) History: Purchased by Craig Zlimen in 2018 from a Moroccan dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Breccia composed of sparse shock-darkened Type 5 equilibrated chondrite clasts within a relatively coarse grained shock-darkened matrix containing thin, ragged stringers of metal. Clasts have shock stage S4. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa18.4±0.3, range Fa18.1-19.0, N = 6), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs16.1±0.2Wo1.4±0.2, range Fs15.9-16.4Wo1.1-1.7, N = 5), augite (Fs6.2±0.6Wo45.6±0.6, range Fs5.8-6.9Wo46.0-45.0, N = 3). Classification: H5-melt breccia. Specimens: 26 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. C. Zlimen. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
