Las Colonas Zacatecas, Mexico Found 1994 November 25 Achondrite (howardite) A 148 g oriented stone was found by Scott Williams in a corn field. Mineralogy and classification (D. Kring, UAz): a breccia dominated by orthopyroxene-rich (diogenitic) material but also containing a few medium-grained pyroxene- and plagioclase-rich (eucritic) clasts; orthopyroxene, Fe/(Fe + Mg) = 0.25 mol%, FeO/MgO = 0.27 g/g; bulk rare earth element abundance 2–3´ chondrites. Specimens: main mass with finder; type specimen, 11 g plus two thin sections, UAz. | ||||||||||||||||
