Northwest Africa 13634 (NWA 13634) Morocco Purchased: 2017 Classification: HED achondrite (Howardite) History: Purchased from AJ meteorites, found June 2017, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Single stone partially covered in weathered fusion crust. A saw cut reveals a breccia with light and dark clasts set in a light-tan matrix. Petrography: (C. Agee, UNM) This meteorite is a polymict breccia consisting of approximately 55% diogenite and 45% eucrite clasts. Accessory opaques, fayalitic olivine, and silica observed. Geochemistry: (C. Agee, UNM) Diogenite low-Ca pyroxene Fs27.1±3.1Wo3.1±0.4, Fe/Mn=28±2, n=11; eucrite low-Ca pyroxene Fs53.4±6.4Wo5.6±3.4, Fe/Mn=31±2, n=9; plagioclase An90.2±2.7, n=7. Classification: Howardite Specimens: 20.1 g on deposit at UNM, Simon de Boer holds the main mass. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
