DISCOVERY OF APREL'SKY (АПРЕЛЬСКЙ) IRON METEORITE, USSR Name: APREL'SKY (АПРЕЛЬСКЙ). The place of fall or discovery: The village of Aprel'sky, Amur region, USSR. Date of fall or discovery: FOUND, August 1969. Class and type: IRON, octahedrite. Number of individual specimens: 1 Total weight: 54.6 kg. Circumstances of the fall or discovery: A meteorite was recovered in goldbearing deposites and the geologist P. V. Pronin brought it to the Amur mining mills. In October the meteorite was turned over to the Commitee on Meteorites of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Moscow). Source: Report of the chief geologist of Amur mining mills G.
