Northwest Africa 13033 (NWA 13033)

Purchased: 2019 Sep

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3)

History: Purchased in Temara, Morocco, by Adam Aaronson in September 2019.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Closely packed, well-formed chondrules (apparent diameter 610±200 µm, N = 20) are set in a sparse matrix containing stained metal.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa23.6±11.2 (range Fa0.9-33.2, N = 10; Cr2O3 in ferroan examples 0.03-0.17 wt.%, mean 0.06±0.04 wt.%, N = 13), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs14.6±11.3Wo1.0±0.6 (range Fs4.7-24.5Wo0.4-1.7, N = 4), high-Ca pyroxene (Fs4.7±2.5Wo38.8±2.7 (range Fs2.9-6.4Wo34.7-30.9, N = 2).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3).

Specimens: 30.2 g including one polished thin section and one polished mount at UWB; remainder with Aaronson.
