Northwest Africa 14175 (NWA 14175) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Jan Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3) History: Purchased by Dr. David Gregory in January and September 2021 from a dealer in Zagora, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Very closely packed, well-formed glass-bearing chondrules (apparent diameter 860 ± 570 µm, N = 25) are set in a very sparse matrix containing stained kamacite, taenite, troilite and chromite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa22.4±11.1, range Fa4.0-32.4, N = 7; Cr2O3 in ferroan olivine 0.01-0.11 wt.%, mean 0.04±0.02 wt.%, N = 30), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs17.8±9.4Wo2.8±2.4, range Fs3.2-29.2Wo0.3-5.4, N = 5), augite (Fs11.7Wo35.8; Fs6.0Wo42.6; N = 2). Magnetic susceptibiliy log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.74. Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L3).
