Northwest Africa 14082 (NWA 14082)

Purchased: 2021 Jan

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4/5)

History: Purchased by Jason Whitcomb in January 2021 from an Algerian dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Some well-formed chondrules (some containing devitrified glass) occur in a recrystallized assemblage containing stained metal, chromite and troilite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa24.8±0.3, range Fa24.3-25.1, N = 4), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs21.0±0.2Wo1.3±0.1, range Fs20.7-21.2Wo1.1-1.4, N = 4), augite (Fs7.4±0.6Wo45.2±0.9, range Fs7.0-7.8Wo45.8-44.5, N = 2),

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L4/5).

Specimens: 22.3 g including one polished thin section at PSF; remainder with Mr. J. Whitcomb.
