Nova 067 Odessa, (unknown) Find: 2015 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5/6) History: The sample was sent under the name "Velyka Balka" and suggested to be a single piece of 5.557 kg found as in inclusion in a limestone in Ukraine at 46°34’N, 30°35’E. A piece of 243 g was sent by an anonymous holder to the Institut für Planetologie (IfP) for testing and classification. No indication for an origin in a limestone exists and the real find location is not certain. Petrography: (A. Bischoff; IfP) The rock is a brecciated metamorphosed ordinary chondrite. Shock veins are abundant. The rock is relatively fresh (W1/2) and has a shock degree S4. Geochemistry: (K. Klemm, A. Bischoff; IfP) The main phases olivine and low-Ca pyroxene are equilibrated. Olivine Fa25.2±1.0 (n = 34). Low-Ca pyroxene is Fs21.2±0.8 (n = 29). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L5/6, brecciated). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
