Kereb es Sefiat 001 (KeS 001) 27°05’58.6"N, 7°24’04.3"W Tindouf, Algeria Find: 2020 Mar Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3) History: Purchased from a dealer in Mauritania, reportedly found in Tindouf area (Algeria) in March 2020. Physical characteristics: The meteorite consists of 3 pieces totaling 706 g. On the cut surface, many densely packed chondrules are visible. Petrography: The rock contains numerous unequilibrated chondrules, which are relatively large and up to 3 mm in size, embedded in a low abundance of dark matrix. The chondrules consist of zoned olivines and pyroxenes typically embedded in glassy mesostases. The chondrite has a low abundance of metal that is mostly weathered. Geochemistry: The mean olivine composition is Fa22.0±15.4, range Fa0.6-69.3, (n=31); the low-Ca pyroxenes have a mean composition of Fs12.8±8.4Wo2.0±2.3, range Fs2.0-30.7Wo0.1-7.5 (n=21).
