Northwest Africa 13182 (NWA 13182) Mali Purchased: 2019 Aug Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3) History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in August 2019 from a dealer in Timbuktu, Mali. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Well-formed, closely-packed chondrules (apparent diameter 930 ± 510 µm, N = 23) are set in a medium-grained matrix containing stained kamacite, taenite, low-Ti chromite, troilite and pentlandite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa23.6±13.7, range Fa0.7-45.6, N = 9; Cr2O3 in ferroan examples 0.01-0.52 wt.%, mean0.11 wt.%, sd 0.17 wt.%, N = 13), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs15.8±7.1Wo0.8±1.1, range Fs5.4-23.9Wo0.1-3.0, N = 6), pigeonite (Fs27.0Wo21.9), subcalcic augite (Fs1.7Wo32.4), diopside (Fs0.9Wo44.8). Magnetic susceptibility log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.11. Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3). Specimens: 16.7 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M.
