Northwest Africa 14182 (NWA 14182) Niger Purchased: 2019 Sep Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4) History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in September 2019 from a dealer in Niger. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Fairly closely packed, relatively large, well-formed equilibrated chondrules (some glass-bearing, some plagioclase-bearing) are set in a sparse matrix containing stained kamacite, taenite, troilite, pentlandite, low-Ti chromite and chlorapatite. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa30.6±0.4, range Fa29.9-30.9, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs24.7±0.3Wo0.6±0.3, range Fs24.3-24.9Wo0.3-0.9, N = 3), pigeonite (Fs23.4Wo5.3; Fs19.7Wo15.9; N = 2), augite (Fs9.2±1.8Wo46.2±0.9, range Fs7.9-10.4Wo46.8-45.5, N = 2). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4). Specimens: 45.4 g plus one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
