Northwest Africa 14186 (NWA 14186)

Mali

Purchased: 2020 Apr

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4)

History: Purchased by Mbark Arjdal in April 2020 from a Malian dealer.

Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a matrix containing troilite, stained kamacite, subcalcic augite, chromite and merrillite.

Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa28.3±1.0, range Fa27.5-30.0, N = 5), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs22.3±0.9Wo1.2±0.7, range Fs20.5-23.0Wo0.4-2.2, N = 6), subcalcic augite (Fs15.5Wo27.7).

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4).

Specimens: 45.6 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. M. Arjdal.
