Northwest Africa 15127 (NWA 15127) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2022 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4) History: Purchased by Shun-Chung Yang and Juan Chen in 2022 from a dealer in Tindouf, Algeria. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed equilibrated chondrules containing devitrified glass are set in a relatively coarse grained matrix containing pentlandite, minor altered kamacite, chromite, troilite and merrillite, but no plagioclase. Some shock melt veins are present. Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa27.3±0.4, range Fa27.1-28.2, N = 7), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs22.40±0.3Wo1.4±0.2, range Fs21.9-22.9Wo1.1-1.9, N = 8). Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL4). Specimens: 35.0 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with Mr. S.-C. Yang and Mr. J. Chen. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
