Northwest Africa 14087 (NWA 14087)

(Northwest Africa)

Purchased: 2021

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL7)

History: Bought by Jean Redelsperger from Lahcen Ait Ha in 2021.

Physical characteristics: Fusion crusted stone with gray interior.

Petrography: (J. Gattacceca, CEREGE) Highly recrystallized chondrite with no visible relict chondrules and triple junctions. Main minerals are olivine, pyroxene, and plagioclase (to 200 μm), some with lobate contacts. Troilite to 400 μm, FeNi metal to 20 μm.

Geochemistry: Plagioclase An10.2±0.2Ab85.6±0.6Or4.2±0.4 (n=3)

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L7). Type 7 based on texture and the Wo content of orthopyroxene.

Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Jean Redelsperger
