Northwest Africa 12492 (NWA 12492) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2018 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~3) History: Purchased at Hamburg Mineral Show Dec. 2018. Physical characteristics: 63.5 g brown stone with recognizable, well-developed chondrules on the surface Petrography: (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) gray matrix with well outlined chondrules (0.3-1.5 mm, av. ~8 mm), irregular metal and sulfide inclusions Geochemistry: Magnetic susceptibility (R. Bartoschewitz, Bart) log χ (× 10-9 m3/kg) = 4.80 Classification: Ordinary chondrite (L~3, W0/1) Specimens: 13.1 g on deposit at Kiel, Bart holds the main mass. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
