Iron, fine octahedrite (group IVA)

An 18 kg iron meteorite was found by Benedito Silva, who was plowing a field. Classification and analysis (M. E. Zucolotto, MNRJ; J. T. Wasson, UCLA): bulk metal Co = 0.38 wt%, Ni = 7.45 wt%, Cu = 139 ppm, Ga = 1.68 ppm, As = 2.16 ppm, Ir = 3.78 ppm, Au = 0.615 ppm. Specimens: main mass, D. B. Ninis, Maria da Fé, Brazil; type specimen, 90 g, MNRJ.
