Northwest Africa 14520 (NWA 14520) Algeria Purchased: 2021 Classification: Martian meteorite (shergottite) History: Purchased by Zhishu Wang in 2021 from a meteorite dealer Physical characteristics: A single stone has partial fusion crust. Shock induced melt rock veins are observable in hand specimen. Petrography: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) The two major phases in this meteorite are pyroxene (48 area%) and maskelynite (40 area%). Minor phases are merrillite, apatite, ilmenite, troilite and olivine. Most pyroxene grains display zoning features. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: (J. Ji, S. Hu and Y. Lin, IGGCAS) Pigeonite: Fs34.2-62.7Wo12-18.9 (n=7), augite: Fs19.5-36.4Wo27.2-38.1 (n=9), Fe/Mn=34.5±5.2 (mole ratio,n=16), maskelynite: An39.7-56.7Ab42.1-55.0 (n=6). Classification: (J. Ji, S.
