Northwest Africa 13704 (NWA 13704) (Northwest Africa) Find: 2020 Classification: Martian meteorite (Shergottite) History: Purchased from a dealer in Morocco Physical characteristics: Grey fragments without crust Petrography: (J. Gatacceca, CEREGE) Igneous rock with intersertal texture. Main minerals are zoned Ca-pyroxene and maskelynite with grain size ~500 µm. Pyrrhotite and exsolved Fe-Ti oxides (to 500 µm) are present. Geochemistry: Ca-pyroxene range from Fs19.8Wo38.0 to Fs57.7Wo13.9, FeO/MnO = 34.6±5.6 (n=4). Maskelynite An44.4Ab53.1Or2.6 (n=2). Classification: Martian meteorite (shergottite) Specimens: Type specimen at CEREGE. Main mass with Isabelle Pothier. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
