Northwest Africa 11769 (NWA 11769) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2014 Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Zagora, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Brownish individual without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows an orange interior and is composed of 200 to 800 μm sized chondrules (mean about 400 μm) in abundant matrix dominated by Fe-rich olivine. Olivine and low-Ca pyroxene in chondrules are mostly unequilibrated. Minor phases include pentlandite, sodic plagioclase, and Ti-bearing chromite; no metal has been detected. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
