Northwest Africa 10586 (NWA 10586) Morocco Purchased: 2015 Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3-4) Petrography: Chondrules have an average size of ~400 μm. The chondrules are well defined. The rock is highly weathered. R3 clasts constitute about 5 vol.% of the rock; the clasts are up to 1 cm in size. The meteorite contains ~40 vol.% matrix that is stained red-orange from terrestrial weathering. The opaque phases include only pyrrhotite and limonite; no metallic Fe-Ni is discernable. Geochemistry: Olivine Fa36.5±4.4, n=14, low-Ca pyroxene Fs26.3±4.0Wo1.4±1.0, n=6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
