Northwest Africa 13008 (NWA 13008) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Classification: Rumuruti chondrite (R3-4) History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Zagora, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Dark greyish rock partly covered with fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite displays a dark greyish interior and is composed of up to 6 mm sized angular type 4 clasts set into type 3 matrix. Olivine and low-Ca pyroxene are compositionally unequilibrated in the matrix; equilibrated Fe-rich olivine is the most dominant mineral phase in the clasts. Low-Ca pyroxene is also compositionally unequilibrated in the matrix. More minor phases include Ca-pyroxene, sodic plagioclase, sulfides, and Ti-bearing chromite; no metal has been detected. Geochemistry: type 3 lithology: olivine: Fa28.0±13.7 (Fa5.3-39.2, n= 17); pyroxene: Fs14.4±6.5Wo1.6±0.9 (Fs5.4-23.8Wo0.4-3.3, n=10); type 4 lithology: olivine: Fa38.9±0.2, n=1; pyroxene: Fs24.3±4.1Wo0.9±0.5 (Fs16.6-29.6Wo0.4-1.9, n=17) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
