Ramlat Fasad 581 19°07.228’N, 53°36.420’E Zufar, Oman Find: 09 Feb 2017 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Dark-brown sand-encrusted fragments, strongly magnetic. Petrography: Black iron oxides with dominant oxide-cemented dune sand. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (XRF) Fe = 30.4±1.1, Ni = 0.62±0.29, Co = 0.09±0.06 (all wt%, N = 3). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering and dilution by adhering dune sand. Probably paired with Ramlat Fasad 579/580 Specimens: 7.4 g at NMBE.
