Ramlat Fasad 584 18°55.699’N, 53°14.848’E Zufar, Oman Find: 02 Feb 2018 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Dark-brown sand-encrusted fragments, strongly magnetic. Petrography: Black iron oxides with dominant oxide-cemented dune sand. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (Activation laboratories, INAA) Fe = 28.0, Ni = 0.056, Co = 0.036 (all wt%); Cr = 55, Cu <1, Ga = 2, Ge <10, Ir <0.001, Pt <0.1, Au 0.01 (all μg/g). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering and dilution by adhering dune sand. Specimens: 2.5 g at NMBE.
