Ramlat Fasad 585 18°53.397’N, 53°13.870’E Zufar, Oman Find: 02 Feb 2018 Classification: Relict meteorite (Relict iron) History: Found during a search for meteorites. Physical characteristics: Many dark black angular to rounded, strongly magnetic fragments distributed over ~95 × 55 m. Petrography: Lamellar mixture of iron oxides and -hydroxides, strongly magnetic. Geochemistry: Bulk analysis (Activation laboratories, INAA) Fe = 58.9, Ni = 5.17, Co = 0.35 (all wt%); Cr = 46, Cu = 168, Ga = 58, Ge = 60, Ir = 2.49, Pt = 23.6, Au = 0.57 (all μg/g). Classification: Relict iron meteorite. Element concentrations affected by terrestrial weathering. Specimens: 61.1 g at NMBE. Main mass: MHTO. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
