DISCOVERY OF THE WIMBERLY, USA, IRON METEORITE Name: WIMBERLY Place of find: Approximately 3 km SW of Wimberly, Hays County, Texas, USA. 29°58'N., 98°07'W. Date of find: 1976, early in the year. Class and type: Iron. Octahedrite. Number of individual specimens: 1 Total weight: 7.8 kg, approximately. Circumstances of find: Found by Mr. Troy Smith of Pasadena, Texas, during a field excursion. He removed about 800 g from the mass and brought it to the Houston Museum of Natural Science where it was identified as a meteorite. Main mass in the Children's Museum, Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
