Northwest Africa 6024 (NWA 6024) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2009 Classification: HED achondrite (Diogenite) History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Greyish individual partly covered with fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite is a monomict breccia predominantly composed of blocky up to 1 mm sized orthoproxene crystals and abundant fine-grained cataclastic interstitial regions. Minor phases include calcic plagioclase, silica, chromite, FeS, and metallic iron. Some shock melt veins are present. Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene: Fs26.6±0.4Wo3.6±0.5 (Fs25.5-27.2Wo2.8-4.6, n=19, FeO/MnO=28-33); calcic plagioclase: An91.3±0.9 (An89.7-92.7, n=14) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
