Northwest Africa 4699 (NWA 4699)

Purchased: 2007

Classification: Ordinary chondrite (LL3)

History: The meteorite was purchased from a local meteorite dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Physical characteristics: Grayish rock with some fusion crust.

Petrography: The meteorite shows a fresh grayish interior and displays a perfect chondritic texture with sharply defined, often flattened, and well packed chondrules (apparent mean diameter about 0.9 mm). The fine-grained matrix contains sulfides and rare FeNi metal.
