Northwest Africa 12206 (NWA 12206) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2013 Feb Classification: Ureilite Physical characteristics: Small, irregularly shaped, dark-brown stone. Remnant crust on one face. No caliche or rust on surface. Sample includes a polished thin section. Petrography: Predominantly olivine with minor reduction rims. Scattered low-Ca pyroxene grains throughout. Modal abundances: olivine approx. 90%; low-Ca pyroxenes approx. 5%; remainder is graphite. Geochemistry: Olivine core: Fa17.5±0.8, FeO/MnO = 37.38 ± 5.45 (n=3). Olivine rim: Fa6.7±3.2, (n= 5). pigeonite: Fs14.0±2.5Wo5.6±0.8, (n=8) δ17O = 2.3 permil, δ18O = 7.0 permil, Δ17O = -1.364 permil. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
