Northwest Africa 12635 (NWA 12635)

Morocco

Classification: Ureilite

History: Registered at the Royal Ontario Museum as LM58155

Petrography: (A. Cernok) Predominantly shock-fractured olivine with significant reduction rims. Low-Ca pyroxene fractured. Graphite and diamond occur in clots interstitial to the mineral grains, graphite also along grain boundaries. Modal abundances: olivine approx. 80%; 20% low-Ca pyroxene grains; 5% grain-boundary related graphite and diamond.

Geochemistry: Olivine: Fa6.7±0.3 (n=21); Pigeonite: Fs5.7±0.1Wo6.4±0.3 (n=19). Oxygen Isotopes (K. Ziegler, UNM): δ17O = 0.362, 0.525, 0.348 permil, δ18O = 5.324, 5.588, 5.302 permil, Δ17O = -2.449, -2.426, -2.451 permil (n=3).
