Writeup from MB 108:
Northwest Africa 12631 (NWA 12631) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2019 Feb Classification: Ureilite History: Purchased in February 2019 by Darryl Pitt from a Mauritanian dealer. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Protogranular aggregate (mean grain size 0.6 mm) of olivine (~80 vol.%) and pigeonite (~20 vol.%) with minor accessory Cr-troilite and pentlandite. Olivine grains have narrow reduced magnesian rims associated with Fe metal blebs. No graphite was observed. Geochemistry: Olivine (cores Fa20.3-20.6; rims Fa11.7-15.5; N = 7), pigeonite (Fs17.2-17.5Wo7.5-7.2, N = 3). Classification: Ureilite. Specimens: 21.4 g including one polished thin section at UWB; remainder with DPitt. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
