Northwest Africa 14227 (NWA 14227) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Jan Classification: Ureilite History: The meteorite was purchased from a meteorite dealer in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Physical characteristics: Brownish rock without fusion crust. Petrography: The meteorite shows a granular texture of olivine and pigeonite grains up to 1.0 mm in sizes with some triple junctions. Olivine and pyroxene have characteristic reduced Mg-rich rims associated with FeNi-metal or graphite. The meteorite contains flaky graphite and abundant iron oxide veins. Geochemistry: reduced rims in olivine: Fa2.5-5.6; olivine contains 0.56±0.03 wt% Cr2O3 and 0.32±0.02 wt% CaO; reduced rims in orthopyroxene: Fs1.1-1.3Wo0.6-0.7; orthopyroxene contains 1.05±0.02 wt% Cr2O3 and 1.14±0.03 wt% Al2O3 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
