Northwest Africa 14562 (NWA 14562) (Northwest Africa) Purchased: 2021 Sep Classification: Ureilite History: Purchased by Ziyao Wang in September 2021 from a dealer in Agadir, Morocco. Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS and P. Carpenter, WUSL) Protogranular aggregate of predominanlty olivine with subordinate pigeonite and accessory graphite, kamacite, taenite, Cr-troilite and daubreelite (associated with Cr-troilite), plus minor secondary barite and calcite. Olivine exhibits relatively narrow reduced magnesian rims associated with fine blebby Fe metal, and pigeonite is in places rimmed by orthopyroxene. Geochemistry: Olivine (cores Fa23.2-23.4, N = 4; rims Fa2.4-9.3, N = 3), pigeonite (Fs19.2-19.3Wo10.3-10.0, N = 3), low-Ca pyroxene rims on pigeonite (Fs15.6-17.0Wo3.4-3.2, N = 2). Classification: Ureilite. Specimens: 5.6 g in the form of a polished endcut at UWB; remainder with WangZ. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
