ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS:

  • Our workshops are designed around specific objectives and outcomes.
  • If you have particular planetary science activities or resources that you would like to bring, to share with the other participants or during the Engagement Event, please plan to do so and let us know.
  • There are a number of resources on the Planetary ReaCH website, including strategies and recommendations for engaging Black and Latinx Audiences, materials on diversity and inclusion, and hands-on planetary and astrobiology activities (many of which we will use during the workshop).
Pre-Workshop Orientation Webinar:
  • We will hold an orientation webinar a few weeks before the workshop, to allow participants to meet us and each other and to answer questions.
  • This webinar will provide an overview of Planetary ReaCH, expectations, the workshop agenda, and logistics, and introduce the strategies that will be discussed during the workshop.
  • We strongly recommend that all participants attend this; it will be recorded for those who cannot.
Parking and Carpooling:
  • The LASP has on-site parking; the university will charge a parking fee.
  • If you would like to carpool, please consider reaching out to other attendees by email or phone.
Travel:
  • Please make your travel arrangements fully refundable (or ensure you will be able to use the credits yourself).
  • The nearest airport is Denver International Airport; it’s a 40 minute drive to Boulder and LASP. There are shuttles from the airport to Boulder.
  • There are a variety of hotels in Boulder and nearby cities, including Louisville and Broomfield.
  • If you would like to share a room, please consider reaching out to other attendees by email or phone.
Attire:
  • Please dress comfortably (for instance, jeans and t-shirts are welcome).
  • Please bring a jacket or light sweater in case the meeting room is chilly.
  • Boulder climate is moderate in August, with highs in the upper 80’s and lows in the mid-50’s.
To bring:
  • Laptops or tablets are not needed for any of the discussions or activities.
  • Cameras and cell phones are welcome.
COVID Precautions:
  • If traveling, please consider taking a precautionary COVID test 24 hours before traveling to Boulder to avoid needing to quarantine after you arrive.
  • If you are not feeling well or have any COVID symptoms, please take a COVID test before coming to the workshop.
  • If you are COVID positive, please cancel your plans to attend this workshop; we will put you at the top of the list to attend future workshops.
  • Hand sanitizer, masks, and COVID rapid tests will be available at the workshop.
