Transportation: Rental cars are available at the airport. Ride-sharing services are also available in New Orleans. Many hotels near Tulane University are also located on or near the St. Charles Streetcar line. The St. Charles at Tulane University trolley stop is less than a 10 minute walk from the Lavin-Bernick Center on the Tulane U. campus.

More Info

To bring: Laptops or tablets are not needed for any of the discussions or activities. Cameras and cell phones are welcome.

Attire: Summer in New Orleans is warm/hot and muggy. Please dress comfortably (jeans, t-shirts, etc. are welcome). If you chill easily, bring a jacket or light sweater for indoors. Going from the hot muggy outdoor climate in New Orleans into air conditioned buildings can make you feel cold. Pop-up showers are common in New Orleans during the summer so it is a good idea to bring a raincoat/jacket and/or umbrella.

Parking: If you will have your own transportation during the workshop, parking is available in the Diboll Complex/Parking Garage on the north side of the Tulane campus, about a 5-10 minute walk to the Lavin-Bernick Center. This garage has a daily rate of $5.00. Parking is also available along St. Charles Street for free but can fill-up early. If you prefer or will require public transportation options, the streetcar is also an option. Rides are $1.25 per ride or you can purchase a day pass. You can also download and use the Le Pass app to pay.

COVID Precautions:

  • While there is not a current COVID-19 vaccine or mask mandate for Louisiana, you are welcome to wear masks during the workshop.
  • Hand sanitizer, masks, and COVID rapid tests will be available at the workshop.
  • If you are traveling to New Orleans, please consider taking a precautionary COVID test 24 hours before traveling to avoid needing to quarantine after you arrive.
  • If you are not feeling well or have any COVID symptoms, please take a COVID test before coming to the workshop.
  • If you are COVID positive, please cancel your plans to attend this workshop; we will put you at the top of the list to attend future workshops.
