ROSES-16 Amendment 12: A.46 Eco Forecasting allows shorter duration awards and due date delayed

ROSES-16 Amendment 12: A.46 Earth Science Applications: Ecological Forecasting will accept proposals for awards with durations of less than four years.

The Ecological Forecasting Applications area promotes the use of Earth observations and models to analyze and forecast changes that affect ecosystems and to develop effective resource management strategies. Primary user communities are natural resource managers (both land and marine) and those involved in conservation and ecosystem management. The Applications area operates through the development, improvement, and application of predictive tools, with associated uncertainties, for assessing alternative approaches and designing effective decision support strategies for managers. It applies current scientific understanding and modeling capabilities to determine how ecosystems and their components (e.g., species, genes) are changing and likely to change over time. More information is at: http://appliedsciences.nasa.gov/programs/ecological-forecasting-program.

Amendment 12 allows proposals for Applications Project awards with durations of less than four years to the Ecological Forecasting program, which previously specified four-year awards. Proposers should carefully read the new text in Section 3.3.1, which presents some caveats and implications of this change. Proposals are now due by June 30, 2016, and the Planning start date has been delayed to October 1, 2016.

On or about May 13, 2016, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2016” (NNH16ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and will appear on the RSS feed at: http://nasascience.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/grant-solicitations/roses-2016.
