DEPARTMENT: PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY

Works independently on research using data from the NASA-funded Mars Express Ionospheric Radar Sounder and Mars Atmospheric and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) Projects at the U. of Iowa, with oversight from Professors  Don Gurnett and Jasper Halekas.

Develops detailed knowledge of the Mars Express ionospheric radar sounding instrumentation and data analysis procedures.

Organizes methods and procedures for analyzing ionospheric data from the Mars Express ionospheric radar sounder.

Conducts collaborative research with other ionospheric related investigations on the MAVEN spacecraft.

Presents results of this research at scientific meetings and in papers published in appropriate scientific journals.

Helps prepare proposals and reports as required by NASA.

Develop and utilize advanced data analysis techniques.

Write software for data acquisition and data analysis.

Develop new applications of existing data analysis techniques.

Develops physical interpretations of the analysis result.

Prepare and submit first author manuscripts for publication.

Demonstrate good publication record.

Present research results at conferences and workshops.

Provides high level data product to fellow scientists through collaboration.

Contributes to research proposals and reports to funding agencies.

Writes research proposal to obtain independent funding as neededI.

Serve as referee for manuscripts submitted for publication in scientific journals.

Organize outreach efforts in alliance with funding sources.

Serves as a session chair and/or organizes project meetings as needed.
