It Came from Beyond the Solar System

An interstellar invader was discovered on October 19 with the Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System (Pan-STARRS) 1 telescope at the University of Hawaii. The existence of this extrasolestrial object (an asteroid or comet, which astronomers now affectionately call A/2017 U1) was confirmed by researchers at Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS).
