Job Opportunity: The John Caldwell Meeker Postdoctoral Fellowship

It is my pleasure to announce that renewed funding has become available for a postdoc position at the Field Museum. Candidates interested in working with me on projects with meteorites and their components (in particular presolar grains and CAIs), micrometeorites, and cosmic dust, are welcome to apply. Projects are desired that use the following available techniques: atom-probe tomography, SEM, FIB-SEM, Raman spectroscopy, Q-LA-ICPMS, and uCT. Training in all these techniques can be provided, prior experience is desired but not required.

Field Museum: Integrative Research Center: Earth Sciences

Applications are invited for the position of the John Caldwell Meeker Postdoctoral Fellow in the Earth Sciences Section of the Integrative Research Center at the Field Museum. The successful candidate will be expected to complement, and/or participate in any one of the ongoing curatorial research programs in the Section. Research projects are being pursued in the areas of Vertebrate Paleontology, Invertebrate Paleontology, and Meteoritics. Individual curators and their research programs are featured on the Field Museum website: http://fieldmuseum.org/explore/department/geology.

Applications will be reviewed both for merit and suitability within the research and collections strengths of the Section. Applicants should contact curators they are interested in collaborating with well before applying.

A Ph.D. in a field of research represented in the Earth Sciences Section is required.  The maximum term for this position is two years. The appointment is anticipated to begin mid-year in 2019 or soon thereafter.
