The first 2019-2020 Cosmic Explorations Speaker Series lecture will take place at the Lunar and Planetary Institute on Thursday, October 3, at 7:30 pm. Dr. Grant Heiken, a member of the Lunar Sample Preliminary Examination Team at the Manned Spacecraft Center (later renamed Johnson Space Center in 1973), will present “Lunar Dirt, Rocks, and Legacy: The Lunar Receiving Laboratory’s First Five Years.” He will share stories of assisting NASA in preparation for the arrival and analysis of rock and soil samples from the Moon. The presentation will be held in the LPI lecture hall. This event is free of charge, and everyone is welcome. Unable to visit the LPI? All Cosmic Explorations Speaker Series presentations are streamed live on the USRA Ustream Channel.
