Job Opportunity: Postdoc Researcher at the LPI

The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI), part of the Universities Space Research Association, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the area of petrology and/or spectroscopy of Venus analog, as well as other extraterrestrial materials.

The successful candidate will work with Drs. Justin Filiberto and Allan Treiman at the LPI (Houston, TX) on the petrology and spectroscopy of Venus analogs and of other extraterrestrial materials. Half of the fellowship will be funded by a NASA grant to study Venus surface geology and petrology, and high-temperature near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy of Venus analog materials. The remainder of the fellowship would be available for planetary research of the applicant’s choice, and for service to NASA and participation in Education and Engagement activities. The successful applicant will have access to resources at the LPI (scanning electron microscope, VNIR reflectance spectrometer, optical microscope, radar properties lab) and many of the resources at the ARES division of Johnson Space Center (https://ares.jsc.nasa.gov/research/laboratories/). Candidates with backgrounds in petrology, mineralogy, planetary materials/analogs, experimental petrology, and/or spectroscopy are strongly encouraged to apply. READ MORE
