1. Clementine Spacecraft
1. Clementine Spacecraft

This is an artist’s conception of Clementine in lunar orbit. The spacecraft was only 147 kilograms (dry) and, in addition to its sensors, incorporated more than 50 advanced, lightweight technologies, including gallium-arsenide solar arrays, lightweight nickel-hydrogen batteries, a 2-gigabyte solid-state memory, two inertial guidance platforms, and a low-mass reaction wheel attitude control system. Sensors were mounted on a deck with a hinged door (shown open).
