This beautifully-lit oblique photograph of Pacific Typhoon Odessa in August 1985 shows the full extent of the storm clouds with an elevated segment around the eye. The photograph was taken heading east, into the Sun, which accounts for the rays of sunlight in the photograph. Tall cumulus thunderheads can be seen on the perimeter of the circular storm clouds. The diameter of the system is several hundred miles. STS 51-I, August-September 1985. Picture #27-35-071. Right
