This is the only photograph taken from the shuttle that encompasses two typhoon storm systems in one frame. Fujiwara typhoons traverse the ocean, rotating around each other. Odessa was in fact traveling in tandem, Fujiwara-style, with another storm, “Ruby,” when it came up against a third storm system, “Pat.” Typhoon Pat is seen on the left with Typhoon Odessa on the right. No more than 200 miles separates the outer fringes of the two systems in this photograph.
