Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Gabriel Eggers received his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in planetary science and volcanology. His graduate work concerned the occurrence and formation of feldspathic material of igneous origin at Nili Patera on Mars and the development of the Laguna del Maule magmatic system and its expression via geophysical signals in the Chilean Andes on Earth. Altogether, these projects incorporated spectroscopy, geophysical datasets, and numerical modeling to investigate the growth and evolution of silicic magmatic systems.
Dr. Eggers is keenly interested in using remote sensing datasets and techniques to investigate volcanological phenomena across the solar system. At the Lunar and Planetary Institute, he is studying the petrology and spectroscopy of Venus analogue materials at venusian conditions, focusing particularly on surface alteration and how it relates to proposed recent volcanism on the planet. This work will provide important context for interpreting data from future NASA and ESA missions to Venus.
