SAW Organization and Guidelines
VEXAG Study/Science Analysis Workgroup (SAW) Organization Guidelines
This living document describes the framework in which subcommittees and working groups organized or initiated by VEXAG operate and report. Each subcommittee and working Group will adopt its own internal plan, but this is the overall guideline for schedules, products, and reporting. The resulting groups are termed :Study Analysis Workgroups (SAWs).”
All SAWs will have the following four properties: Goal(s), Products, Members, and Timeline
Goal(s): Determined initially by the VEXAG steering committee and revised as the SAW sees fit, Goals describe the fundamental purpose of the SAW, programmatic, science, or other. Goals will be periodically reviewed, and revised/refreshed as needed. A SAW may shift focus within its general purview, or become retired. Reviews are informal assessments and will occur roughly semi-annually; before or at the annual meeting (Oct-Nov) and in the spring (April-May).
Products: What the SAW will create as a final product, whether it is a report to VEXAG, a published document, a website, or other. Products also include interim and/or status reports
Members: Who works on the SAW. The SAW may have one or more leads likely from the VEXAG SC, but may be recruited from outside, and one or more members drawn from VEXAG and the larger community
Timeline: When the work of the SAW is expected to finish. This can be revised as needed, but provides a schedule to work towards. The timeline also indicates frequency of interim updates to the SC.
